Colorado Reading Corps Lands at Aurora Public Schools

Mile High United Way and the Colorado Reading Corp will release data from its early literacy intervention program during the 2012-2013 school year. 77% of third graders who completed the program in the 2012-2013 school year, scored proficient or better on the TCAP, and on the Colorado reading Corps spring benchmark.

In support of its ongoing commitment in the area of School Readiness, Mile High United Way placed Colorado Reading Corps coaches and tutors in 12 Jefferson County Public Schools to implement its early literacy intervention program. Based on the program’s success, the Colorado Reading Corps program is expanding into four school districts and 26 schools, helping 1,200 students improve reading proficiency. This school year, 48 new Corps members are being deployed to Adams 12 Five Star School District, Aurora Public Schools, Jefferson County Public Schools, and Denver Green School.
