BOE Election Update: 11/7 Community Reception Postponed

 

Aurora Public Schools has learned that the margin of votes has narrowed in the Board of Education election due to the ongoing counting of absentee and mail-in ballots. As a result, election results will not be certified until at least Nov. 19 in Adams County and Nov. 22 in Arapahoe County. 

There is a possibility that there may be a mandatory recount based on state law, CRS 1-10.5-101(1)(b), which requires a recount if the percentage of votes between candidates is less than 0.5 percent.

Until election results are finalized, current board members Jane Barber, Jeanette Carmany, Matt Cook and JulieMarie Shepherd will remain seated.

The Nov. 7 Community Reception for new board members is postponed to a later date.
