Virginia Court Elementary Celebrates $10 Million School Renovation

School Will Host Ribbon Cutting Ceremony & Scavenger Hunt for Community

AURORA, CO – Virginia Court Elementary students and their families will be able to explore more of their newly renovated school during a community celebration Thursday night. The school will host a ribbon cutting ceremony to officially welcome community members into the building which recently underwent a $10 million renovation. Virginia Court staff will then conduct a scavenger hunt to allow students and families to learn about new areas of the school and even win prizes!

The whole building remodel started in fall 2020 and finished just in time for the start of the 2021-22 school year. Originally built in 1964, Virginia Court now features three new additions, including new state-of-the-art STEM and art classrooms as well as an outdoor classroom and courtyard. All classrooms received new carpet, the school’s preschool capacity was doubled and the media center received a refresh along with $8,000 in new books. The school also now features a new main entrance that is both inviting and secure. The main entrance was moved from the east side of the building to the north side to allow for more space for office staff and a more streamlined parking lot for student drop-off.

The renovation was funded by the $300 million bond measure Aurora citizens approved in November 2016. The 2016 bond is providing improvements at every APS school and benefitting every student throughout the district.
