APS Concurrent Enrollment Highlighted by Lt. Governor

Aurora Public Schools is leading the way with students taking college courses while still in high school. Concurrent enrollment allowed 29 APS students to earn an Associate’s degree before receiving their high school diploma last year. This year, 409 APS students are taking advantage of concurrent enrollment.

Thus far, the APS concurrent enrollment program has saved APS families $991,100 in tuition payments. On Wednesday, Lieutenant Governor Joe Garcia will release the state’s annual concurrent enrollment report and discuss promoting postsecondary college and career readiness. APS students will also share their experiences in concurrent enrollment programs.

The state report summarizes the number and demographics of public high school students who participated in and completed concurrent enrollment programs for the 2011-2012 school year. Also included is an overview of college matriculation into public institutions of higher education in Colorado and the benefits of concurrent enrollment programs in regards to student success.
