School Bus Ads Drive New Revenue for APS

Aurora Public Schools and Spot On Solutions are partnering on a new school bus advertising program. The advertising program will raise additional operating funds that support APS students while providing local businesses a unique opportunity to promote their services. APS will receive 50 percent of the advertising revenue.

The cost for a bus board ad starts as low as $250 per month with a six-month agreement and includes artwork, production, installation and removal. The bus boards are approximately 18 square feet. Businesses will have the opportunity to target their advertising by selecting from different bus routes within the Aurora Public Schools district.

Current advertisers include Aurora Schools Federal Credit Union, TCF Bank, Colorado Youth for a Change and Pickens Technical College.

Bus board ads are placed on the lower side of the school bus below the windows, and do not affect student safety in any way. APS has developed guidelines to ensure that bus ads are appropriate for children and families, and all ads are approved by the district prior to production.

For pricing information and packages, call Spot on Solutions at 720-482-0384 or email at dina@spotonsolutionsinc.com.

NEWS RELEASE #17
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
September 5, 2012

WHAT: APS Unveils “Drop In Aurora”
WHEN: September 6, 10 a.m.
WHERE: APS Professional Learning & Conference Center, 15771 East 1st Avenue 80011

APS and Colorado Youth for a Change Unveil “Drop In Aurora”

Aurora Public Schools announces a new program aimed at getting dropouts back in school to finish their secondary education, called “Drop In Aurora.”

Aurora Public Schools is partnering with Colorado Youth for a Change to bring the program to students. The groups currently work together to serve students at the Rebound Program and Futures Academy. APS and Colorado Youth for a Change are teaming up again to launch an additional dropout recovery strategy aimed specifically at Aurora’s youth. The program is an extension of CYC’s Drop In Colorado, a community-based multimedia campaign designed to let dropouts know that they have choices for going back to school and to connect them with CYC staff.

APS and CYC want to reach dropouts and their influencers (family, friends, clergy, etc.) and encourage them to send a text message to 99000 for more information. The interested person will receive a note of encouragement and a website link to an interactive experience, including the appropriate resources needed for a successful return to school. This partnership further drives Aurora Public Schools vision to graduate every student with the choice to attend college without remediation.

The new program will be highlighted at a special news conference:

Thursday, September 6
10 a.m.
Professional Learning and Conference Center
15771 East 1st Avenue
Aurora, Colorado 80011

Expected attendees include APS Leadership Team and Board of Education members, Colorado Youth for a Change leaders and students.
