It’s a Celebration! Altura Elementary School

Aurora Public Schools will host a celebration to spotlight the building remodel at Altura Elementary School on Thursday, August 16. Superintendent John L. Barry, the Board of Education and Altura staff members will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 5 p.m. The celebration will include building tours, free food and an open house.

The bond-funded remodel expands the school’s capacity from 338 to 520 students. Improvements include additions to house new classrooms, a media center, a cafeteria and a secure entry/office area. The project also included a new roof, parking lot expansion and site improvements.

The project was funded with bond dollars approved by Aurora voters in 2008.
